How Do I Join?

Subscribe to the AOP list

Firstly, please note that you MUST be a member of the AOP to be a part of the f22 community.

The AOP f22 group was first created in the 1980s and then re-formed in 2019, due to demand and recognition that inequality within the photographic industry was not being addressed as it should.

f22 is run by a voluntary group of AOP accredited photographer members and is open to all women and non-binary members of the AOP. The AOP f22 champions their work, and provides a space for those with similar experiences, to share, learn and grow.

Through regular meet-ups, exhibitions and workshops f22 provides a dedicated platform offering the best business practice support. Together, f22 continues to explore ways in which to grow the visibility of women & non-binary commercial photographers at all levels.

FORUM

The f22 forum was created as a space to discuss matters of photography and women in photography.   If you would like to join f22’s growing supportive community please register here.

f22 PROJECTS

Next collaborative project concept to be announced soon

f22 Behind the Scenes - March 2024

28 AOP f22 members share their behind the scenes images alongside their finished shot, in celebration of f22's 30th anniversary.

This year’s IWD theme is #inspireinclusion

Key themes:

- Why do we need a women’s group?
- Women photographers are still in the minority within the industry and minority groups always find strength in grouping together.

It is important to encourage more women to enter the industry, and for us to create a supportive and safe space for them to grow their photographic practice

For 2024 International Womens’ Day we encouraged any and all female photographers to share their own behind the scenes images using the hashtag #AOPf22_behindthescenes

f22 Collaborative Community Project - March 2023

f22 Community 600 x 200 png

Project outline
We would like to invite you to collaborate the subject of community and all it encompasses. Connection has never been more important. Communities are all around us enriching our lives. We want you to explore the diverse way this appears. Whether you choose to take a single image or an investigative series we hope you will contribute. We encourage you to use this opportunity to create new work around this theme. The idea is that members will establish collaborative working groups that may wish to work together as support groups or as creative collaborators.

Dictionary definition of community
A community is a social unit with commonality such as place, norms, religion, values, customs, or identity. Communities may share a sense of place situated in a given geographical area or in virtual space through communication platforms. Durable good relations that extend beyond immediate genealogical ties also define a sense of community, important to their identity, practice, and roles in social institutions such as family, home, work, government, society, or humanity at large. Although communities are usually small relative to personal social ties, "community" may also refer to large group affiliations such as national communities, international communities, and virtual communities.

Why do it?
Building networks and forging our own professional community is more important than ever. F22AOP: Community project offers the opportunity to make great work AND strengthen your ties with a UK network of female photography professionals. Providing avenues for future collaboration, support and inspiring future generations of female and female identifying photographers.
