The 2012 AOP Photographers Awards judging is now underway

The fantastic panels of major industry players are busy judging this year's entries.� They have another two weeks to complete the first round of judging online.� In July, the judges will be meeting together in their category groups, to decide on the winning images, which will make up the exhibition and accompanying book.

With more entries than last year, both the stakes and the quality are very high.� The judges have their work cut out!

The 2012 AOP Students Awards - Entries closed

Entry to the�2012 AOP Students Awards is now closed and we are in full swing of preparation for the exhibition, which will be held 16th -19th May, at the Hoxton Gallery.�

The Awards Presentation evening, during which the 2012 Student Photographer of the Year will be announced, will take place on Wednesday 16th May.� Full details will be released shortly.

The hosts for the Presentation Evening of the 2012 Photographers Awards will be:

Nick Eagle won a Merit in the 2010 Assistants Awards.� He says: �It has impressed designers in the field, as they know how competitive the AOP Awards are.� It has also given me confidence to try new things out.�� In Nick�s opinion, winning an Award helps up-coming photographers by giving them something to showcase, to email out, or to put in their portfolios to show that their work is widely recognised.

Rachael Lowndes won a Judges Choice Award in the 2011 Students Awards.� She feels winning the Award has given her both confidence and exposure.� �The press coverage brought in enquiries which led to a collaboration on some editorial work which is getting me exposure and experience.� I suspect it also makes people look at my website rather than ignore me when I contact art directors and picture editors - its a seal of approval for high quality work.�

The 2012 AOP Photographers Awards - Exhibition Venue and Dates

"One of the capital's hidden and most exciting new spaces" The Guardian

Ambika P3 is a 14,000 square ft space, constructed in the 1960s.� Its dramatic and impressive scale was originally built to test concrete for Spaghetti Junction and the Channel Tunnel.

Last year, the AOP Photographers Awards exhibited all successful photographs in Ambika P3, as well as organised the Awards ceremony in the space.� Its the perfect location to view current work by the industry�s elite, and just the space to raise a glass in celebration of the 2012 winners.
