The Judges
Sarah Bowles Picture Editor – Channel 4 Sarah started out as an editorial Photographer shooting for a wide range of international publications including The Independent, EMI, Omnibus Music Publishing, Careless Talk Costs Lives and Mojo magazine. She then moved on to Picture-Editing the seminal anti-music-press magazine Plan B, championing full-page photography and colourful illustrations. More recently she has worked as Picture Editor at Sky Television where she developed the visual elements of the online entertainment portal. She is currently Picture Editor at Channel 4, responsible for photographic commissioning, direction, and the delivery of creative innovation across the Channel 4 brand.
Deborah Brown Picture Director – Grazia Magazine Deborah has been in the picture business for nearly twenty years, starting out at the Telegraph Colour Library and moving to the Hulton, Scope Features, Best Magazine, Empire Magazine and You Magazine at the Mail on Sunday. For the past four and a half years, she has been Picture Director on Grazia Magazine, commissioning everything from interiors and celebrities to international news stories.
Allyce Hibbert Picture Editor - Time Out Allyce has been Picture Editor at Time Out for five years, following stints as a picture editor at Time Magazine both in the Asian bureau in Hong Kong and also in the European bureau. Previously she has worked at ES magazine, the Telegraph Magazine, Guardian Weekend Magazine and the Saturday Independent Magazine.
Olivia Howitt Picture Desk – Radio Times After graduation, Olivia worked as a Photographic Assistant and Photographer for both editorial and art based projects including charities such as Breast Cancer Awareness. She collaborated with Adidas to create in store set-ups and photographic artwork for their London concept store, and three years ago moved to the BBC and the picture desk of the Radio Times. Both researching and commissioning photo shoots for the magazine and website, Olivia is constantly seeking out new and original talent for future commissions. She also researches projects for Radio Times book publications.
Andy Jex Creative Director – Saatchi & Saatchi Andy started his career at BMP DDB and moved, along with copywriter Rob Potts, to Fallon London where the duo picked up two D&AD yellow pencils, for BBC Radio 1Xtra streetmusic and Sony Walkman. Five years later, the pair moved to Mother London where they were most famous for the pitch-winning Stella Artois work, the Pot Noodle campaign and award-winning work for Zoo magazine. In 2009, after five years at Mother, the duo moved to Saatchi & Saatchi to work on Cadbury, Visa, Olay and T-Mobile.
George Logan Photographer Equally at home on location or in the studio, working with people, animals, locations or still life, George produces strong and vivid images – many of which have been described as having an ‘other worldly’ feel. George’s work receives worldwide critical acclaim: in 2005 he won a Gold in the AOP Photographers Awards and has regularly featured in Communication Arts, Campaign Poster Awards, Archive, Creative Review, PDN New York, Cannes Lions and the London Photographic Awards. In November 2007 George was named International Advertising Photographer of the year at the IPA / Lucie Awards in New York.
Tom Redican Art Buyer - Wunderman Tom began his career working for photographers on a freelance basis and subsequently spent four years as a full time assistant to Photographer & Director, Stak Aivaliotis. For the next fifteen years he ran his own studio, working with top art directors at major agencies, creating photography that received high profile honours such as Benson & Hedges Gold awards and Clio, Creative Cirlce and Campaign Press awards. Since 1995 Tom has worked on the agency side, spending 6 years at Collett Dickenson Pearce before joining the Y&R group, where he is currently working at Wunderman as Art Buyer and Agency Producer.
