AOP Open General Information:

The AOP Open is run by the Association of Photographers and is the only competition where professionals and amateurs compete on a level playing field. There are no categories or themes in this competition so the choice of what you enter is entirely up to the photographer.

This year the Open celebrates its 10th anniversary and each year it attracts approximately 2,000 entries from around the world.

The chosen images are exhibited at the AOP Gallery in August every year, showcased on the Awards website and will be published in the Open Catalogue (published in August).

When entering the AOP Open you have the chance to:

• Be judged by seven of the photographic industry’s top professionals
• Have your image exhibited in a top London photographic gallery in the heart of Shoreditch
• Be published in the AOP Open Catalogue
• Compete against your peers and some of the top photographers in the UK and abroad
• Have your images endorsed by THE professional body representing photographers

The AOP Open is looking to showcase individual images that display your talent as a photographer. Images capturing moments, emotions, objects or environments, the theme is not judged in this competition, it is simply a search for outstanding photographs.

The 2009 prizes

The Awards were presented at the prize-giving ceremony on 6th August 2009 and the 'Best in Show' won a Wacom Intuos 4M tablet plus a Kodak ESP7 All-in-One Wireless Printer with photographic paper supplied by Tetenal.  The winner of the 'Public Choice' vote won a Wacom Intuos 4M tablet and the winner of the public vote prize draw won a selection of photographic books.
