The fifth AOP Open competition brought together a panel of judges from the world of commercial photography. The winner in 2004 was Simon Roberts with 'American Pyro Enthusiasts', where the judges felt "the photographer had put real thought into his image – he had created a narrative within the image and a sense of the absurd".
