The AOP Open 2009 winners were announced at a packed prize-giving ceremony at the AOP Gallery on 6th August. Best in Show went to photojournalist Richard Wainwright for his documentary shot, 'Mongolia - Surviving the Winter'. As Richard explained, the image 'shows Munkhbat and Altangeret (both 15) who have lived in this manhole together for over three years under the streets of Ulaanbaatar, the coldest capital city in the world'. Richard won a Kodak ESP 7 all-in-one printer with photographic paper supplied by Tetenal, plus a Wacom Intuos 4M tablet.
Public Choice Award was presented to freelance photographer Lara Jade for her image, 'Bernadette'. There was more interest than ever before in the Public Vote and Lara was a clear winner with 467 votes. Lara won a Wacom Intuos 4M tablet; to find out more about the prizes, please click here.
